Keep praying...

As the winter months unfold and the farming landscapes change once again, we continue to pray for an end to Bovine TB in Wales.  We continue to pray for our farmers to find their Creator and Saviour.  We continue to pray for health for all the farm animals.  We continue to pray for wisdom and righteous decisions in the parts of government that affect our farming communites.

We have been excited over the summer to make contact with groups and individuals who are reaching out to our farming communities through action and prayer.  We know that God is bringing more and more of his people into an awareness of the needs of farmers and we want to continue to provide a forum for connections between those people.  If you are praying for and serving your local farmers, please get in touch so that we can encourage one another.

Praying for the cows...

On Wednesday two of the Brecon Goshen team spent almost an hour walking among the cattle pens at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, praying blessing on the farmers and their animals.  It was such a privilege to see these beautiful animals up close, and thanks to the knowledge of my companion, I personally learnt a lot about the different breeds.  From Herefords to Jerseys, Limousins to Welsh Blacks the animals on display were beautiful examples of God's creation.

We encourage you to keep on praying for the beef and dairy farms in your area.  We want to see Bovine TB completely eradicated from our Welsh farms.  And don't forget all the other farmers as they work hard through the summer season with livestock and crops.  Bless them in the name of Jesus as you pass their land, and carry golden threads of blessing and salvation across our wonderful nation.

Goshen @ The World Bovine T.B. Conference 16TH June 2014

It was such a privilege for some of our group to attend to pray at this prestigious conference with people from around the globe discussing the issue of Bovine T.B. which effects not only the cattle but people's lives and livelihoods.

They met with intercessors from Cardiff Watch, bringing the countryside and city together in unity for our farming community, and were able to use one of the rooms to pray before the conference started.  Through worship and proclamation from Psalm 29 v 4 and 1 Chronicles 29 v 10 – 13 they asked the Lord for protection over the delegates and that they would have knowledge and insight in their deliberations.

Being with intercessors from the city and rural areas was excellent in building up understanding of the issues the countryside faces.

Amongst the international delegates there were scientists, vets, farmers and those from the badger protection society.  The whole conference went extremely well, but we trust that those attending from different nations were able to sense that something more is happening in Wales than the beginnings of a successful strategy for reducing Bovine TB - God is at work through his people and bringing a change of heart that will bring healing throughout our farming community.

Goshen at the Royal Welsh Show

We've decided that for July the Brecon Beacons Goshen prayer group will go to the Royal Welsh Show to pray among the farming community present there.  Several of us will be at the Show on Wednesday 23rd July.  If you would like to join us, please email me at the Goshen Project address and I can let you know details.

Last month a group met to pray in the Beacons while another group prayed in Cardiff before the start of the international Bovine TB Conference hosted by Wales.  We will post a special report of that prayer time in Cardiff soon.

If you are a farmer and have any needs you would like prayer for, please don't hesitate to contact us.  We will keep requests as confidential as you wish.

If you are praying for farmers in your area we'd love to hear from you so that we can work to encourage and support one another.

Angus Buchan

Some of you may have heard of the South African farmer, Angus Buchan, who has seen God at work in powerful and miraculous ways both on his farm and in the lives of the people he works with.  There is a book and a film called "Faith Like Potatoes" that tells his story.

In June this year he will be visiting the UK to speak in several locations about the things God has done, is doing and can do - especially for farmers.  He will be coming to Wales on the 10th June.  If you would like more information about his visit, go to http://www.bronyddmawr.org.uk.

Prayer Update #4

This month we gathered to pray again in the Brecon Beacons for our farming community.  We praise God again for the reports in the farming press of the reduction seen in incidents of Bovine TB in Wales.  We spent time praying for revelation of areas in which we as a Church are responsible for the blockage of the blessing that we want to see poured out on this land of Wales and onto our farming community.  We prayed for all areas of farming, not just the beef and dairy farmers, because we know that God's heart goes beyond Bovine TB - though we believe this is where He has called us to start.  We also spent time just in worship of our wonderful and almighty Father God, because it is as we draw near to Him that we are able to hear His heart for our nation and our land.

Don't forget this Thursday night at 7.30pm, 20th March, we have a special meeting in the Brecon Beacons talking about the vision of the Goshen Project and will have a special guest speaker.  If you would like to know more about what we are seeking to achieve as a network of people or just want to gather with us to share vision and pray, please come and join us.  For details of how to get to the venue, please email me or use the contact form.

Prayer Update #3

This week our prayer group in the Brecon Beacons was very pleased to be joined by a couple of farmers from elsewhere in Wales as well as friends from Sweden.  As we prayed for our local farming community and discussed the many struggles and issues facing farmers in our country and all over the world, we also praised God for the ways we see him moving to bring healing to our land.  I couldn't help laughing in wonder at the way God is using a small, but expanding, group of his people to be a part of blessing our land.  We are asking God to send more workers to pray for our farming community, to establish praying groups of farmers and neighbours to bless our land and those who work it.

We are hoping soon to begin to visit churches across Wales to share our vision for an increasing network of Christians praying for their local farms and farming families.  If you would like us to visit your church, please get in touch.

Prayer Focus Update #2

This week we met again for our monthly prayer gathering to pray for our Farming Community and continue to pray into the issue of Bovine TB.

We have been focusing in on praying for individual farms in our locality.  Through personal contacts and a bit of research we are building up a picture of the kind of farming in our area.  We want to pray for each local farm specifically and by name, particularly those involved with Beef and Dairy farming.  We believe that it is this kind of focused prayer across Wales that will see a change in the prevalence of Bovine TB.

We also spent some time studying a map of Wales with the levels of Dairy and Beef herds across Wales and the corresponding incidents and TB reactors.  The result of this for many was to pray with an increased passion to see the eradication of this terrible disease in our nation.  Knowing that each of those reactors marked an experience similar to that written about in our 'Farmer's View' made me personally feel very sad and I long to see a map drawn in the years to come showing only the thriving herds with no sign of Bovine TB remaining in this land.

We also prayed for all the other issues facing our Farming Community at this time - for the health of all animals, prosperous crops, safety and health for farmers and workers and strengthening particularly of the family owned farms across our nation.

Please continue to join with us as we pray.  We encourage you to find out about your local farms and to pray for them specifically.  If you would like to know of other Christians praying in your area for farming and for the eradication of Bovine TB, please contact us and we will try to help you connect.

You can also now subscribe to updates by email.  Please use the form at the side of the page.

Good News!

Today we had some great news!  One of the farmers in our group has recently been going through TB testing on his dairy herds and, despite having farms on either side who have confirmed cases of TB, there was "not a blemish on any of his cows".  We praise God for his protection for this farming family and for the encouragement to keep praying for protection for all the beef and dairy farms in Wales.
